Alexander Vlad models his business the way he models his life: it’s all about the love, baby. Do what you love, love what you do, and surround yourself with passionate people.
The lifeblood of Captivate Creative Studio is collaboration with other artists and Alex is having the time of his life working with the people that inspire him most. He believes it is the greatest experience to photograph someone who is doing what they were born to do.
After gaining experience in both journalism and interactive multimedia, Alex combined his education, skills and talents and started freelancing as a photographer and designer. While honing his skills for years, he gained the insight and experience and developed a style that sets himself apart from the competion.
Captivate Creative Studios was created at the end of 2007 and legitimized as a business in early 2008. Alex has since built up a clientele ranging from record and fashion labels, publications, businesses and over one-hundred musicians from across Canada and the United States. In 2009, Captivate Creative Studios added booking manager Jeff Paterson to the team.
While shooting, Alex uses technology and lighting to create atmospherics that engage the mind. He is constantly pushing the boundaries of himself and his equipment, bringing studio lights to the dancefloor, and being that professional who’s still willing to crawl under fences and break into abandoned warehouses. What better way to add elements of excitement or danger to a scene than by documenting real excitement or danger?
Alex is a literal globetrotter, shaping his worldview while living in Boston, Ottawa, Dublin, Bucharest and Montréal.
Alex captures his art using Canon EOS cameras for reliability and superior image quality and Canon ‘L‘ series lenses for exceptional sharpness and color. He post-produces on Apple computers with Adobe applications and can integrate his workflow seamlessly to suit the needs of any client.
